Tuba City Juvenile Detention Center (TCJDC) is in Tuba City, Arizona, within the Navajo Nation reservation, located 65 miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona, Coconino County. The Juvenile Detention Center is a 32-bed temporary or short-term residential facility for young people who are handled through the Navajo Nation Judicial Court system.
TCJDC staff a total of 13 employees (includes Corrections Sergeants, Corrections Officers and support staff) with several vacancies for Corrections Officers positions. The primary focus is on rehabilitation and education, with resources from local programs to provide educational and self-help information to provide hope to change the mindset from living a life of crime.
IMPORTANT NOTE: TCJDC is currently closed due to upgrades and renovations. The Detention Center will re-open when project is complete and has been cleared from the Bureau of Indian Affairs. An update will be provided when a date has been set to resume business. All court ordered juveniles are currently residing and transferred to the Juvenile Detention Center in Crownpoint, Arizona.
